Author: Carolyn Manion Kinnie

Carolyn Manion Kinnie is a marketing specialist and strategic communicator. She has held a variety of writing and research roles across B2B, B2C, and non-profit organizations and has been writing for The Speaker Lab blog since 2021. She has extensive experience in the education industry and her content portfolio includes policy analysis, email marketing, website copy, and social media. A firm believer that a humanities degree is a great asset to business, entrepreneurship, and marketing, she studied Classics at Stanford University and Medieval Studies at the University of Toronto. She enjoys using the skills she learned researching medieval texts to write compelling content that educates, informs, and inspires. She has also tutored Latin and classics to students of all ages for over a decade. Carolyn’s favorite motivational speeches are all from a couple thousand years ago, but she appreciates that the same principles of successful speaking content and delivery applied then as they do today. Cicero’s famous orations against Catiline, for example, followed the same framework we teach at The Speaker Lab: solving a problem (a conspiracy to take over Rome) for a particular audience (The senate). When she isn’t contributing to the TSL blog, Carolyn enjoys baking tasty treats for her family, gardening, and reading medieval history.
