Tell us about yourself; who are you and what do you do for fun?
I live in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada with my beautiful wife Alyssa! I am passionate about personal growth and love assisting others in becoming the best version of themselves! My favorite thing to do in the world is to go to the movies with Alyssa and eat a MASSIVE bowl of buttery popcorn!
What got you into speaking? Is it what you expected?
My “official” journey into speaking began when I joined Toastmasters in 2012! Looking back though, my entire life has been leading to me becoming a speaker…I just didn’t know it at the time.
Tell us about your hardest moment as a speaker so far.
My hardest moment as a speaker was deciding what path to focus my efforts. I didn’t know if I wanted to only do keynotes, speak at conferences put on by others, speak in schools, speak to corporate audiences, run my own events or do something completely different. I struggled for almost 2 years deciding which path to take.
What has been your biggest success as a speaker so far?
My biggest success…so far, is the completion of a series of 2-hour inspirational seminars called “Your Soundtrack to Success” and an EPIC 3-day seminar called “Mindset Mastery.” The events are designed to inspire and empower passionate individuals to create iconic levels of success and fulfillment in every area of their lives!
I spent months creating the content, processes, and exercises that I wanted the audience to go through. The resulting events have been highly inspirational experiences that challenged participants to break through their boundaries, and develop the strategies and tools to live with more purpose and passion at work, in their businesses, at home, and in life! From these events, I now have an inspired group of individuals working with me on their goals and dreams for the next 18 months!
What was your biggest struggle before finding The Speaker Lab?
Before The Speaker Lab, I had a very limited understanding of the speaking business. I was able to connect with audiences on stage but completely lacked any sort of direction or understanding of how the business of speaking worked.
How has The Speaker Lab helped you and your business?
The Speaker Lab assisted me in building my brand and in gaining clarity on how to successfully start building my speaking business. I was able to build a following of supporters who were interested in my content, and as a result, attended my workshops once I launched them. Grant helped me get clear on what my offering is and how to present that to the world on my website, in my marketing materials, and in my talks.
Booked and Paid to Speak was the first course I have taken to assist me in building my speaking business and it was the crucial first step in my success. The lessons I learned will help me long into the future!
What is your number one goal over the next 6 months to a year?
Serve 100+ students in my full 18 month course!
