Tell us about yourself; who are you and what do you do for fun?
I have a passion for significance. I love to study and explore human dynamics and discover why we do what we do and to share my conclusions with my audience through keynotes, workshops, and webinars.
I’m in a phase of life with a young and thriving family. I enjoy coaching my kid’s sports teams and helping my family grow and thrive. When I’m not creating content, traveling and speaking, I enjoy quiet evenings at home creating special moments with my wife.
What got you into speaking? Is it what you expected?
I originally began speaking to create leads for the company I worked for but found that I truly enjoyed adding value from the stage. I slowly transitioned into speaking at conferences and organizations across the country. I started to quote a price and was amazed associations and organizations were willing to pay me to come and communicate what I learned about human dynamics and influence with them.
Tell us about your hardest moment as a speaker so far.
I’m getting to the point where I’ve created enough momentum that I’m turning down speaking gigs, either because I’m already booked or my price is too high. I’ve conditioned myself to take anything that comes my way, but now I’m at a point that I have to turn down good gigs so I can pursue GREAT gigs, which is fun, but also very hard to say “no”.
What has been your biggest success as a speaker so far?
It’s been very satisfying for me to discover that there’s a market for my passion and that organizations are willing to pay me well for my passion. It’s scary to put so much into something and face rejection. It was a relief that not only did I not get rejected, but my inbox and voicemail is full of people asking me to come and share my passion with them. I’m beginning to realize that I truly can make speaking a fruitful career and that’s extremely exciting!
What was your biggest struggle before finding The Speaker Lab?
I struggled with the business side of speaking. I knew how to develop a talk and deliver from stage, but I was clueless on the business side to include contracts, how to track down leads effectively, follow-up, and treat my speaking like a true and honest business. The Speaker Lab provide that missing piece to my speaking business puzzle, and it made all the difference and put me over the edge to the true momentum I needed to make a real go at a full-fledged speaking career.
How has The Speaker Lab helped you and your business?
Gain the confidence that I can truly build a career in speaking and not only pay the bills with it, but thrive and live a life I truly longed for so long.
What is your number one goal over the next 6 months to a year?
I want to book over $100,000 in speaking gigs over the next six months. Right now I’ve booked $69,000 in speaking gigs.
