I first heard of The Speaker Lab and Grant right in the middle of the pandemic back in April 2020. I picked up his book and right away realized he knew what he was talking about. I had been told by others that I should definitely explore being a public speaker. f But while I loved the thought of being a speaker , I didn’t know how to make it a reality. Who do I go to for this to happen? What connections do I need to make? I had no idea where to start.
I ended up Googling “booking agent” and “speaking agent”. That’s when The Speaker Lab website came up for the Booked and Paid To Speak Elite program. When I looked at the description, I knew this was it. This was what I wanted to do and this program would help me do it.
As a result of becoming an Elite student with The Speaker Lab, my messaging became very clear, what I wanted to speak about became defined and who I wanted to serve became crystal clear. In terms of tangible results, the guidance in planning and putting together my demo reel was super helpful. And (not to toot my own horn) I am really proud of my website. It looks really nice!
I can’t stress enough how important the demo and the website is. It really helps you get your name out there because it builds confidence in feeling like a professional speaker. In fact, one of my contacts reached out to someone that she knew and recommended me. She passed along my website and that was my calling card. As soon as that organizer saw my website, she booked a call with me. On that call, she said, “we want to hire you.” I ended up booking two additional gigs sight unseen based off of the strength of my website and demo reel alone!
What I am most excited about is that I am now actually doing it. I just came back from a trip in San Diego where I had not one gig but THREE gigs all in the same week and all were paid!
Today, my speaking business is busy and I am doing the work I love. I am speaking, signing books, connecting with people, and feel super aligned with my message. I also can confidently say I AM WORTH IT!
There was an unexpected surprise that came from this program. Because we were doing so much digging into my messaging and who I wanted to serve and what my speaking platform would be about, I found that my coaching business actually grew by leaps and bounds.
Recently, as I was hosting a live workshop, I had this moment while the audience was working with one another. I was like: I’m actually being paid to speak and it’s what I want to do. It’s what I’m good at. I’m in my zone.
I would recommend anyone who is serious about their message, wants to build a speaking business, and wants to launch themselves forward into their true calling to join the Booked and Paid To Speak Elite program. Be prepared, willing and ready to put in the work because there is a lot of work involved in it. The good news is you have four amazing coaches to keep you moving forward even when you get stuck.
It’s so worth it and it is deeply fulfilling. It’s really cool to see the development and growth that happens inside of you as you’re becoming the professional speaker you always dreamt you would be.
